Testimonial

"I am most pleased to offer a few words in behalf of Sandy, and that's the tough part ... keeping it to just a few words. She is in my judgment one of the nation's foremost experts in new media, and how to navigate the transition to them from traditional media.

As technical and communications manager of OurBlook.com, she created our University Partnership Program and helped teach the next generation of journalists about using the new formats of the Internet, Facebook, Twitter and Vimeo as they quickly came to dominate the way Americans talk to each other. Under her guidance, students in a gender and media class at the University of Iowa wrote and posted articles on our site, public relations students at Baylor divided into groups and produced PR approaches for OurBlook as a class project, and classes at Hofstra and Sam Houston State used content generated by our site in their studies. Sandy's dynamism and authoritative knowledge captivated the students, and the professors.

During the three years of the site's existence, she created its design, organization and direction and supervised the 10 interns we attracted, most of them from the University of South Florida. She also was instrumental in getting our site written up in PBS' website, the Journal of Electronic Publishing, the Online Journalism Review and the Canadian national journalists association magazine

Above and beyond her technical expertise, she showed the vision, initiative and energy to see what needed to be done, and then to do it. The next landing space for this web astronaut will be a lucky recipient indeed.
