I Interviewed David Shankbone for PBS MediaShfit
And loved it. The article, Shankbone's Wikipedia Photo Portraits Spread Like Wildfire, is exactly the type of article I like to write because it allows me to explore the cultural changes taking place worldwide, which I feel few places are covering.
I've hung out with David before, and every single time its a relief to talk to him because he "gets it." He sees and acknowledges what is going on globally - the movement taking place that half of the world seems to want to pretend does not exist.
David made some good comments about the future of journalism, including calling the journalism industry out for preaching the ridiculous notion that a writer can be completely neutral, and that only two sides exist for every issue. Most importantly, he also points out that the internet didn't hurt journalism - journalism hurt itself by not fulfilling the role it was suppose to fill. Does it surprise us that Wikileaks and similar organizaitons have hit the scene?
Really encourage you to check it out!
